When you arrive one of our assistants will show you to your admission room where they will answer any questions or concerns you may have for them
.
They will take some “before” pictures for your confidential file
.
You will be given some medications to prevent swelling and infection
.
We ask that you have breakfast before arriving at the clinic and we will order you lunch from the fresh market across the street.
.
You are then taken into our surgical suite where Dr. Gillespie painlessly administers the local anesthetic to the donor area.
.
Taking the donor tissue usually takes about15-20 minutes
.
While the surgical assistants microscopically dissect your follicular units you are able to watch movies, TV, read, or watch and speak with our assistants.
.
Dr. Gillespie will then come in to administer local anesthetic to the recipient area and make the small slits for the follicular units. This is also a painless procedure though often people comment on the funny sound it makes.
.
Once Dr. Gillespie makes the slits 2 or 3 of our surgical assistants then start to plant or place the follicular units in the recipient sites.
.
All together this procedure usually takes 4-5 hours depending on the size of the procedure.
